Malaysian Open 2019: Lin Dan, Chen Long sets an all Chinese final at the Malaysia Open .

Two times Olympic Champion, five times World Champion, Six times All England Champion and the best Badminton player of all time reached his fifth Malaysian Open final at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur. He defeated fellow team mate Shi Yuqi in the Semifinals.

For quite a long time Lin Dan has been losing in the very first or second round of the tournaments even to very lesser known opponents. Lin is widely criticized for showing lack of determination and his game is full of unforced errors recently.

There was a time when beating Lin Dan was a rare feat for any player but now he is losing to unknown players quite often. Questions were being raised, about Lin Dan having any motivation or interest left in him to compete at the highest level.

But, Lin Dan answered all the questions by defeating Shi Yuqi in the semifinals of the Malaysia Open. The match went into three sets in which the first one was evenly contested and Lin manages to won it by 21-19. The second game goes to Shi Yuqi by 21-16 and finally the last game and the match was won Lin Dan 21-19,16-21,21-12.

In the second semifinal on the near court, Chen Long defeated Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in three games by 12-21,21-10,21-15. Lin Dan and Chen Long have played each other 12 times with Lin Dan winning 8 and Chen Long on 4 occasions.

Both the players have also met each other at the finals of the same tournament in 2015, where Chen was able to win the Malaysian Open title. Lin Dan have managed to win the title only once in his four finals, in 2017 by defeating Lee Chong Wei. Tomorrow’s final would be mouth watering for the Badminton fans across the globe.
